Lol. Guess what I got? A postcard from ALA. And guess what it says? "Friendlier rovers." "Now with 99% less nagging!" And a slew of other things that people complained about last year. While I am glad (I guess?) that they took what people said into consideration and are trying (desperately might I add if they have to advertise it the way they did) to make ALA bounce back from whatever deep abyss it slid into last year thanks to the staff and miscommunication or whatever else they blamed for their behavior and lack of controlling and reprimanding it, I don't know if it will ever earn back whatever little good reputation it had prior to last year.
Another thing. That whole LJ Strikethrough of '07 as people are eagerly and readily calling it and making themselves out to be the victims of is really ridiculous. It's amusing and disheartening how pathetic and petty the general public can be. I'm sure mob mentality isn't helping the situation either. They seem to just want to point their little fingers at someone to blame for their inconveniences even though LJ has accepted, apologized and is willing to correct their mistakes. The whole thing about needing to protect children from the content they were purging is an odd position to take though. It's not their job to keep content like that away from children, it's the freaking parents' job to do that. As altruistic as that is, it's just wishful thinking that it's possible to control such a thing. Of course the whole freedom of speech comes into play here, but from what I've seen, a lot of communities w/ "questionable" content have all been locked from public save for whatever's on their profile and no one's really been complaining. Oh and another thing. Mina brought this up and with good point: fandom is not only rape, pedophilia, incest, etc. It's just things that may come with it but yet people are saying that it is those things and only that. Wtf?
wtf,
people suck
