This is quite unusual, even for these scientists.

As it would be foolish to let such an opportunity pass, I have some questions for those who have only recently arrived, if you would not mind answering.

[ ooc; yes, i caved. feel free to answer anything he asks, or completely derail him. or anything, really. ]

What kind of questions?

Nothing terribly difficult to answer, I should think.

As it does seem that our time may be limited, I will ask this directly: are you in possession of any talent or "power," either deemed superhuman or that is unique to yourself?

No sir, I've nothing like that. I'm a good singer but I don't think that counts.

No, I do not believe it does. In that case, is there any other reason that you would be of interest to others?

I would hope not. I can't think of any, at least. [Ok, that's kind of a lie. But you don't exactly run around telling people you used to rule a country and were a bit of a terror.]

[ hm, probably not the best idea... ]

A shame... I had hoped that there was some method to their choices, one that may have been revealed through this, but their selection still seems to be without any true reason.

I would almost be afraid to think whoever runs this place actually operated on reason. Although I suppose figuring out their patterns would be useful to the citizens.

There are few who operate without reason-- they are not without it, themselves, though that reasoning may simply be considered "unpleasant" to some. However, whether or not one possesses any knowledge regarding their patterns or reasoning makes little difference in their carrying out those plans. It may allow some to be better prepared, though the truth of the matter is...they are in control, here.

So I've come to see. Still, being prepared is better than nothing. [She sighs] For ones so in control, they don't seem to have much regard for their citizens' well-being. [Normally she wouldn't be one to talk, but Rin had learned her lesson.]

Of course, it is difficult to properly prepare oneself when so many factors are still unknown.

They are not citizens...so much as they are "subjects" of observation, experimentation.

And that is what bothers me most about this place. People shouldn't be thought of in such a way.

Well, that and how cold it is.

And why is that?

"Why" to which statement, sir?

My apologies-- why you disagree with the idea of their views on human raw materials. There is, after all, somewhat of a natural inclination towards judgment of others...whether as specimens of study, or simply as beings with little or no worth, it does happen.

You are right, it does happen. But when we start to think like that, we no longer perceive them as people. Their emotions, wants, dreams... all are forgotten. Or simply ignored. Such a thing should not be permissible in a leader.

And yet, it is impossible to take all of those qualities into consideration. Sometimes, it is more useful to place those aside, for the sake of greater goals.
