It seems that the issue of these chips will soon be a thing of the past.  Perhaps those called "scientists" were not truly interested in keeping their subjects so powerless.  No, it seems to be that they are much more interested in their worth, more than any sort of forced cooperation ( Read more... )

[Oh Huey, Mikado likes you less and less.]

What people are "worth"...

I don't think that's something we're allowed to judge.

Is that the reason? There is nothing stopping you from evaluating such things-- but you believe that it is something you are "not allowed" to do. Why is that?

[Give him a minute to think...]

We all value people differently. I like my friends more than other people... But that doesn't necessarily mean that they're "worth" more than others.

Do you mean to say that you have never thought one of your friends was...more useful-- or perhaps, better-- than another?

I may think so, but that doesn't mean it's absolutely true.

No, there is very little in this world that can be said to be an "absolute." However, one could still say that you have thought of even your friends in that way-- that you considered their value.

Isn't that natural though? It's impossible to value everyone you know in the same way.

Of course-- yet, most of these raw materials prefer not to think of it, pretending they are "above" such things.

I think it's you calling them "raw materials" that makes them upset.

Were I to consider them "human," would it change their views if I asked them to evaluate the worth, the usefulness of those they know?

Would it make them any different, themselves?

W-well, it could certainly make them more receptive...

And if I asked you how to define the worth of other "humans?" How you would decide which are better than others?

If it were me...

No. I can't answer that question.

So no matter what-- "raw materials" or "humans," it is still something you are incapable of.

I'm not incapable. I just know it's not right.

Who decides that? These rules that you seem to follow...are they laid down by someone who is more qualified to decide than others? Or do you truly believe that all humans are equal?
