This week, my church BFF Terri (my church's secretary) is out of town in California (so jealous!) with her family, and I volunteered to do her job while she was away (thus dubbing myself the "secretarial understudy"--any job is better with a sweet title). So I went in to church last night before practice to check out the PowerPoint lyrics for our songs. She was nice enough to have already put the lyrics on there, but I had to do a little tweaking. Once I sat down and actually started working on it, I had a mild freak-out. lol. I haven't used PP since college and that was only for one presentation/class. Everything I know about PP is self-taught, and here I was, attempting simple, stupid stuff like adding and formatting slides and trying to make the transitions uniform. I know it's easy, but I have SO little experience with it and it's been so long since I've even attempted it that I had a nagging fear I'd screw everything up. But I think I figured it out well enough--everything looked ok during practice. I had to make one more edit today, but that was just deleting slides--any idiot could do that! lol. Then I set to work on the bulletin and message notes. Again, she was nice enough to mostly have that set up. It was my first time working in Publisher. I really like it! :) Very easy since I've worked with other (somewhat) similar programs. I felt all special and important and was singing along to my CDs while I was there. I said "You didn't know you'd be getting a concert" to my pastor and he said "it's ok--keep singing!" I kept laughing about dumb stuff and he would pop in and say "you're having too much fun." lol. I kept typing "Stan" instead of "Satan," which amused me to no end. (Really, I do need to get out more.) The lamest part about the whole "secretarial understudy" role was the bulletin collating: I had to staple 2 and a half pages together for each one. The half sheet was really a pain. But that's all I have to complain about. :) Oh, and I miss my friend Terri! I want her to come home! So I guess that's two things to complain about.
And on a completely different note...
I was just listening to my iPod while washing dishes and was amused at the variation of types of songs I have on there. Here is what played while I was scrubbin' those dishes:
"Come Away with Me" by Norah Jones
"Beautiful Soul" by Jesse McCartney
"Party for Two" by Shania Twain ft. Billy Currington (his voice is kinda sexy)
"Interstate Love Song" by Stone Temple Pilots
"Twist & Shout" by the Beatles
"Where the River Flows" by Collective Soul
"Love Song" by Sara Bareilles
And that's just the tip of the iceberg. I have even more variety on there, from Chamillionaire to Andrea Bocelli, Gotan Project to Paul Baloche, Mariah Carey to Simon & Garfunkel, Puddle of Mudd to The Afters, Dido to Primitive Radio Gods, Notorious B.I.G. to Bryan Adams, Frank Sinatra to 2Pac. lol. You get the idea.
tres amusant, no?
