during my looong hiatus of...3 months
For the last 2 months I have taken part in an art class at my Uni for some summer grades. It was the best class I have had in...well sadly 5 years.
So here is the result of what we did.
(...Ok not 2 months but 3 weeks, but you'll see later. XD)
I love that in the first day our professor just dumped us into the deep waters and asked us to draw our hands in 30 minutes.
But she had amazing reasons for it. XP
Another drawing she just made us do on the fly in 30 minutes. A self-portrait....which was pretty scary considering I have NEVER done a self-portrait before.
These were some various homework assignments we made in order to flex our right-brain. Yeah that's right the right-brain.
Amazingly it worked....
This drawing of my left-hand was done on the 2nd day of class...A vaaast improvement over the one I made in 30 minutes. XD
The next day we had to make a slightly harder drawing of our hand. Mix in foreshortening and such...
Another day another hand. This one was homework assignment and we had to make it with an object we were holding. I chose my Hungarian cockade that I cherish very much.
I coloured digitally in the 3 colours so it could be seen better.
Over the coming days we jumped over to objects instead of hands. This one was just a paprika on a paper, but it was a good lightning-shadow exercise.
Next day: more fruit. This time I could mix it up with some wine-glass, cause I have allways sucked in colouring stuff like metals and glass. Now I could see how glass reflects light and shadow.
Homework assignment with a shoe. I should have chosen a better piece since the patterns were hard to enhance on this one.
Another homework assignment now with a household object. I chose the avocado-peeler cause....well all the other ones were boring. XP
plus it was enjoyable to see the flabbergasted look on the professor's face. XD
In-class assignment of an american flag draped over some furniture. This was the project we feared the most. No wonder since the flag has soo many details with the stars and the texture of the flag itself....
This one I really liked. We had to choose one of the body-arts of Michelangelo's David that the professor had and draw it on a coloured-paper with white pencil. And yea I chose the ear.
The following day we had the same assignment with Michelangelo but we could choose either other body-parts or the skull. I chose the skull and another 2 girls as well. We drew it from 3 angles and it was fun to see the final drawings and the 3 perspectives of the skull up on the board. XDD
The final day after 15 days of class we had to remake the self-portrait using everything we learned. Man you can really see the difference. XD...I hope
So, this was 3 weeks of art classes and I never enjoyed a class this much before ever since I arrived to America...sad but at least I know what I am good at. :D
