What happens when I don't have cable?

Sep 26, 2006 12:24

What with “Heroes” airing last night, my 2006-2007 television season is all scheduled. Starting last year, I tried to get back into network television watching after years of almost pure cable, but was stymied by my retail job. Now, I’ve got myself a regular 9 to 5, which while not the most stable in the universe, at least allows me my nights. ( Read more... )

Neato! I think I'll have to add Heroes and Jericho to my viewing list. They look fun.

I think they'll be fun. Jericho will be fun, if nothing else, but I think Heroes has some serious potential to be a long running show.

I hope so. The only thing I actually watch on TV is Lost, so I need to broaden my horizons.

Not only is the invulnerable teenager from Odessa, but the Bad Guy is too! Odessa is a hot spot of evolutionary history!

If you haven't seen it, Sorkin did yet another behind-the-scenes-of-a-TV-show show back in the day called "Sports Night" that was a half-hour sitcom-esque show about a cable sports show, and also had great star power for its time. Peter Krause, Josh Charles, Robert Guillaume, Felicity Huffman before Desperate Housewives (which made me squeal when she was in the pilot of Studio 60!)...good stuff, ran for two seasons on ABC before it was cancelled.

You can get it on DVD now, and it's the classic Sorkin formula (walking and talking, walking and talking and repeating incessantly for humor). It's fun, with very poignant moments and characters that are fun to watch and root for.

I watched Sports Night when it was in syndication on Comedy Central. I liked it a lot, which is one of the reasons I have high hopes for Studio 60. I also think Matt and Danny on Studio 60 have much the same character relationship as Dan and ...dude whose name I can't remember on Sports Night. Sports Night was a bit more comedy than Studio 60 is, but I do like that style of comedy.

"Good evening, from New York City I'm Dan Rydell, alongside Casey McCall. Those stories plus..."

I agree that Matt and Danny have the same type of chemistry, and look forward to seeing what Sorkin does with Studio 60 :)

Heroes was definitely intriguing. I liked Hayden Panettiere's character, although I coulda done without the mangled hand. I loved Hiro though. He cracked me up. Agreed about the violent reflection woman, who I still see as the woman accused in Legally Blonde. Maybe her reflection did it!

Studio 60 is plodding along nicely, although I don't find the same emotional attachment that I had to West Wing quite yet. I adore Perry and Whitford though.

Oh, man. The mangled hand. It's like they knew what personally freaks me the hell out. I had to change the channel briefly when I realized that was going to happen.

Yeah, I don't know about that reflection. Is there a superpowered reason her mirrored self is so violent? I dunno. But there were entrails, and I really didn't need to know.

Hehehe. I went nuts for a few minutes after I saw the first promo with her in it, and then it hit me like so many other random bits of pop trivia do in the middle of the night.

Lost is one of those shows I can't afford (monetarily and time-wise) to get caught up on, so I never started watching.

Did you know you can watch the season 3 premiere of Veronica Mars at msn.com before it airs next Tuesday? I love that show too. I got hooked on it when I rented season 1 this past May and then I watched the re-runs of season 2 all summer. I'm now ready for season 3.:)

I'd heard about it, but I was just going to wait. I'm still catching up before it starts.
