The magic kingdom.
Finally watched Merlin 2x02 and 2x03--and you know what? They were great! Not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but solid all around. How fucking great were Gwen and Morgana? When 2x03 was over, I said, "And thus commences 10 episodes where nothing happens." And then there was a preview that shows continuity--Arthur still likes Gwen!--and offers real plot development--Gwen likes Lancelot!--and engages with the mythology. I'm sorry I doubted you, Merlin! TV has burned me before. pynelyf is right, though; they do seem to be back away from Merlin/Arthur a little bit--or rather attempting to channel that relationship into Gwen/Arthur (hasn't Arthur had versions of the fight he had with Gwen with Merlin? And if not--why not? Use this to tell us something about Merlin [the character], show!). I'm wary of it--but I think I'll trust them a little while longer.
I'm guessing they're building up to a "Merlin is tempted to go bad" thing at the end of the season--they keep wanting us to notice how overworked he is and how little credit he gets. And there was of course the fake out at the end of episode 1.
But I do not have actualfax thoughts about the episode--pynelyf had some good ones, though, that I hope she'll share.
