so...thanks to all my wonderful friends and family who sent aaron and i holiday cards this year. i was excited and surprised by all the work that goes into such a thing and was inspired, actually, to write a little card of my own. on the internet, of course.
Happy Holidays to those I know and love and think of while listening to music in my car or go running at the gym (too cold to run outside these days). Some things have changed this year, while others remain utterly steadfast. In which case, I will begin with those things that remain. Aaron and I will be celebrating our 3rd year of marriage on New Year's Day and I still think he just the cutest husband ever! We both took the day off and vowed to have a simple day alone. We'll probably watch Love, Actually and eat chili from the crockpot. Other things that remain the same include our jobs...thankfully. I still work as an Occupational Therapist's Assistant and Aaron at Hyatt Hotels and Resorts. I still teach skills for the job of living and getting dressed and using specialized mechanical equipment to those of us with the honor of living past the age of 65. Aaron still works for the hospitality industry selling luxury from an Omaha office, although he did have the priviledge of getting a raise and a promotion. I bought him a nice Fossil watch as a gift for such an honor. He allowed for a trip to Washington DC where we visited family and old friends like Cyndi Lauper and Tegan and Sara. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency in DC. The single room was more vast than our apartment and didn't cost a single cent!
So, on to the new items. First and foremost, we bought a house!! It's a three bedroom, almost 90 year-old, lovely house in the middle of Omaha. There are hardwood floors and the attic is finished with a nice bathroom. Everything is white, which means I will be painting eventually! Our dear friend, Ben Peterson, has set up house and is inhabiting our basement. Everything about his decor is very earthy, so it's only fitting that he painted the basement floor brown. We love Ben, even though we see him quite rarely. He is a very busy man. Oh, and Ben just proposed to his, now, fiance last week. Congratulations to Ben and Vera!
As far as living life goes, our friends James and Joseph from Michigan recently visited Aaron and I here in Omaha as our first official house guests. They were both very sweet and handsome and are now missed. We went out, saw the town, drank some drinks, and got our Aveo towed. It was an adventure with many quiet breaks and uphill hikes. Also, I have been trying my hand at increasing my reading list. I have always been a slow reader. In other words, I would take many many moons to finish any style of book. I am finding my new reading to include The City Weekly and many novels and such. I am learning about vampires, body language, and the Omaha arts. That is my reading. I also continue to work on my flexibility in mind and body and attend yoga classes at 24 hour fitness and sometimes at the One Tree Yoga. MMMM. Aaron continues to spend time with friends and play video games. I am pretty sure he is playing Gears of War or Halo 3. He also allows time in his schedule for me to tell him all about my new books. We have more free time to be with each other thanks to our new dishwasher. It was helped ease the stress of many nights with its calming hum and loyalty. My hands will be much smoother this winter.
Well, I love you all. Thanks for stopping bye and spending some minutes with my internet Holiday greetings.
