leaving on a jet plane

Dec 22, 2005 07:39

I'm flying in just a few hours, and am my usual mix of freaked-out and maudlin. This time around, my pessimism coupled with my superstition is causing me to mentally finish even the cheeriest, most innocuous sentences with 'if the plane doesn't crash.' Well-wisher: "Have a great Christmas!" Me: "I will! (if the plane doesn't crash)" See? That way you don't jinx it!

What's truly bizarre is that my second worst fear, besides, of course, dying screaming in terror in a fiery and horrific crunch of twisted metal, is missing out on BSG. Seriously. It's like when I had to fly to my cousin's wedding two years ago, and was distraught at the thought of missing the last five episodes of "Angel." These are not the concerns of a sane person, I grant you, but I can only hope that if anything happens, at the moment of death, as I go toward the light and all the mysteries of the universe are revealed to me...one of the those mysteries will be what the hell happens with the Pegasus.

Have a wonderful holiday, however you choose to celebrate. I wish you joy and peace and love.
