Repetitive strain of the what?

Other people get repetitive strain issues in wrists, elbows, knees. Leave it to me to just have to be different.

I have a repetitive strain of a joint that does not move. Doctors believe I managed this by having trained myself over the course of many years to isolate, slide, lift, and drop my ribcage for belly dancing.

I have inflammation and pain around my xiphoid process, which is the pointy bit right at the bottom of the sternum. The bit you have to be careful not to break when you do chest compressions in first aid.

I guess this means I need to not do drills quite so much.

The neat side of this is having gotten to see an ultrasound of my chest, including seeing my own heart beating while they were taking said ultrasound, which was cool.

The lousy side is that my chest isolation is one of my strongest dance skills, and it sucks that I'm hurting myself by doing it.

health, odd, dancing
