Ouch. Still, the Fireblade is now running lovely and smooth again, and is actually safe and legal. :) On the plus side, I got a free MOT! Apparently there was a mix-up due to a large backlog of bikes needing MOTs, the assistant saying "right, which ones need MOT-ing then?" and the mechanic gesturing at a collection of bikes and saying "that lot". Mine didn't need an MOT (it wasn't due until October), but it got done by mistake and he obviously wasn't going to charge me for work I didn't ask for. 8 months MOT for free! :)
The weather doesn't look good for the weekend, which is a shame, because the idea of chucking a bunch of gear in the boot ad driving off to camp somewhere random with kissycat1000 really appealed. But not this time. :( But I think a cinema trip may well be in order. :)
