The benefits of living in a smaller city...

Apparently, one of my nurses had called in the wrong sleeper earlier today. (Does that sound pretentious of me? I mean, there are three prescribers, they're not only for me.) I got a call from the receptionist from the patient's mother, who was concerned about it, because they were out of meds and needed it today. I'm at home, but I called the pharmacy without the birth date or my DEA number. But they knew who I was talking about right away, knew who I was and filled in all that for me without me having to supply it.

That never would've happened back in Long Island.

Come to think of it, it's like at my pharmacy when getting my fluoxetine the first time, the pharmacist looked at me and then the script. "Oh, I thought that was you! You know, if you get this as a three month supply, it'll be a lot cheaper through your insurance." Which is what I did once I had a trial with the 20 mg capsules. One of the pharmacists (dunno if it's the same one or a different one) about a month ago recognized my husband picking up Zach's Zyrtec and automatically gave him the employee discount without Jason having to hand in our insurance card or proof that he was married to me. (I was out in the car with the kids, so it would've been easy to verify.) Again, not something that would likely fly in Long Island.

Sometimes it's nice being in an area where everyone knows you. At other times... :)
