Still really really really busy right now, though that seems to drop off as soon as we hit December. Mostly because I've put the kibosh on intakes so we're still holding at the current number of patients. It's somewhere around 420 total, I think. Some still squeaked through this week, and some of the other people at the hospital are e-mailing or calling to try to get some advice on kids they'd normally punt over my way. When I point out that the NP is still available, they state that they'll just wait it out. Um... yay for job security?
The spawn is moving like a moving thing, and I think he's shoving my insides around for fun. There's this rib in my back that aches something fierce, plus my lower back hurts. I asked Jay this morning if unloading the dishwasher counted as exercise for me, since I'm not doing anything else right now. He says no. I cry foul. :)
Next appointment is Friday. And yes, I'm working because I forgot to take the day off. Oops. But they close early, so from here I get to book it across town to my follow up appointment.
Maddy has been increasingly whiny in recent weeks, and she has been definitely testing us. Then when we enforce the time outs and consequences (or even raise our voices), she starts wailing and crying. Still learning cause and effect. She is defintely getting a hang of the potty thing, though. Her most recent thing is to get up again about 20 min after we put her to bed, asking to go potty. Then she'll play or sing on her own for a little while longer until she actually goes to sleep. But this weekend since she did a pretty good job (from what we can tell) staying dry during the day, we tried out training pants we got at Babies R Us while doing our registry for the spawn. It's basically toddler underwear with an absorbent bit in it, but there were no leaks at all over the weekend. Sure, I had to remind her to go at the library or before Sunday school or in the afternoons, but she was dry. We swapped to pull ups for her nap and she was dry then, too. That hasn't been consistent over weekends from what I can tell. Jay was going to ask today how day care would be able to do that during the week. She was so jazzed about being a big girl and wearing underwear this weekend, it was adorable. We're not pushing as hard as we might otherwise, given that she might regress when the spawn is born anyway. But so far, so good.
Of course, having to do this all over again in two or three years... :)
