Yeah, I know, I've posted more fanfic than actual updates lately. I've been in a cycle of work, work, more work, home with maddy, online to read fanfic or maybe poke at a fic I'm writing, then off to bed to repeat.

Real life is nice and boring and stable. Not a bad thing to live through, but boring to write about. I did pretty much get my day off for my anniversary okayed (they needed to double check I'm allowed to take time off within the first 90 days of hire), I just need to double check that one of the other practitioners will cover if something pops up. Odds are good that yes, she can do it. But I won't pull a move and just take off for a while without at least asking first. (Why yes, that was just done to me, not that there were any emergencies, but still...)

I'm probably going to take more hours around the holidays to fly back to NY and visit a lot of ppl there. Maybe Thanksgiving we'll visit some of Jay's extended family, since now they're a lot closer than they used to be. Other than those times, I can't imagine needing much time off. I'll probably wind up cashing some of the hours in as a bonus.

Speaking of cashing in... Finally got in touch with customer service regarding the delay in getting my stuff, and they'll be sending me a check later this week. The main office ppl never pointed me in the right direction; I got the number from the agent I'm currently in contact with regarding broken items, though they're referring the case to their home office because of mold damage on books. I should get a name by tomorrow, and hopefully someone actually comes soon to check out the damaged goods and let me know how much they'll reimburse us. We're 5/6 of the way done settled into the house, and really, we'd like to hook up our cable box/DVR upstairs. It will be so awesome to see something OTHER than the same five DVD's back and forth, yanno?

Tho it's adorable and slightly alarming that Maddy has figured out which buttons to push on the DVD player and how the DVD cases work. ::facepalm:: Oh yes, she's so our child. lol. This past weekend she was being all cutesy and having the both of us lie back on the floor on top of her pillows, and she dragged her blankets over us to tuck us in for a nap. Of course, she got pissed every time we sat up, but still. :D The weather was beautiful this past weekend, and we had a great walk to the lakeside dog park (and didn't even need sweaters) and tried going to the beach area next to it. It's not an official beach, but some locals park themselves there rather than driving the half hour to the local beach. We didn't let Indy off lead for it, but maybe when we're all a little more used to it, we'll let him romp around a bit. We're still a little leery of the not-fenced dog park closer to home.

And I think we got Maddy to count to three! She's such a perky, chatty girl, and sometimes I still look at her in such awe. Sometimes it's still surreal. I'm a mom? What? I still spend way too much time online and writing porny fanfic, yanno? Who said I'm an adult? :D

Probably the scariest conversation Jay and I had this weekend? Looking at each other and asking ourselves if it's about time to find doctors to start on baby #2. I'm sure we're ready for it mentally, and we'll be in a better position for it financially once it's here. Knowing me, tho? Yet another excuse to postpone taking the board exams. :D
