Well, after the big walk/photo shoot yesterday it was all domestic stuff. We went to Lowe's to buy stair mats for the front steps so I won't make another dent in my tuchus this winter. Then today more domestic hijinks ensued, including the purchase of more mats, assembly of cheap shelfery, purchase of more cheap shelfery, cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, grocery eating, really everything but cooking (unfortunately), plus some Reed alumni work and a gym visit on my part.
And the usual cat torture. R. gets one and a half potassium pills, a couple of fragments of other stuff (wadded up in a portion of a Pill Pocket), and a squirt of bad-tasting vitamin drops every day. Over the past few weeks, he has begun to drool profusely at pilling time. By profusely, I mean like a large dog, or Niagara Falls. And then, like a dog, he will shake his head and fling the drool all around. When we have finished shoving nasty things down his throat, he will run over to the couch where he and I usually sit and shake his head some more. Last night I thought it had rained on my laptop. Then I remembered that I hadn't taken it outside. Good thing it was closed!
I have my Halloween costume worked out. It's going to be my Girl Scout uniform from fourth grade. Yes, it still fits me. I was a fat kid. I don't have my sash anymore so I bought one on eBay (with about five times as many badges as I ever got) along with a hat. I think I still have, somewhere, the elastic belt that I wore with my uniform, and the little coin purse with the Girl Scout logo that went on it. I feel like this is kind of lame and it should have a twist like "slutty Girl Scout" or "zombie Girl Scout." Maybe next year. This year I just want to be "Girl Scout who earned nine jillion awards."
