Today was about the high school
Tonight was orientation at the high school for incoming eighth graders to learn about what to expect when they start in August. I can't believe my baby will be starting high school in six months. On the plus side, he's going back into band, which I'm particularly glad about since it gets him back into a group activity. He's so much like me and lives in his head that any time he interacts with others is good. But man, it's high school. We ran into his favorite elementary school teacher, who happens to be a good friend, and she was taken aback at seeing how much he's changed. Not that I needed the reminder, lol.
Saturday is the playathon for Alicia's band, which ends in a huge potluck dinner in the evening. Alicia's section is tasked with main dishes, but man, I'm hard pressed to figure out what to take. I want it to be good, but anything Mexican is out. There's going to be a ton of Mexican dishes already. I considered lasagna, but that just seems boring (even if it is delicious). And other favorites we have wouldn't necessarily go down well with a ton of high school kids. Anybody have any favorites they'd like to share? I'm getting desperate for ideas.
