American Idol, top 12

Mar 13, 2007 22:05

I didn't get to see last week's shows until this afternoon, but now I'm all caught up and have my thoughts about the show tonight, written as I'm watching...

BRANDON: I know Brandon has a nice voice, but he just bores me. And forgot the words. I don't think he's going to last long.

MELINDA: I am not a fan of the music from The Wiz, but Melinda is a star and a consummate professional. She emotes when she sings, in ways that few of the others do. Love her. Though Paula's crying was just weird.

CHRIS SLIGH: What an odd song choice for him. And I miss the glasses. And I hated the arrangement. Chris, Chris, Chris...why did you do it? I liked you. Hopefully he'll redeem himself next week. Hopefully he'll have the *chance* to redeem himself next week.

GINA: I like Gina's energy. She was solid for me tonight, if not very memorable.

SANJAYA: The boy should not be here. Period. He's so outclassed. He does not have the range for this song. And I'm sorry, what the hell did they do to his hair, lol? Boy needs to be gone, gone, gone.

HALEY: This song was all over the place. I really like it, and it just felt...wrong. Haley can sing, but something about this performance just rubbed me wrong.

PHIL: Boring to watch, but the best vocals of the boys so far. I like Phil. He'll have more chances.

LAKISHA: I love God Bless the Child. I love Lakisha. Not my favorite performance of hers. But she's a star. Hands down.

BLAKE: I was so disappointed. I love Blake, but this was just...boring. At least it was in tune. Just...a boring tune.

STEPHANIE: I want to *love* Stephanie. But every time I watch her, while I can recognize she has a great voice, it always just misses for me. Tonight was another miss.

CHRIS RICHARDSON: You know, I can never remember this Chris. I don't know why. I know the judges loved him, but I could not tell you *anything* he's sung before. And tomorrow, I'm not going to remember this performance either.

JORDIN: I adore Jordin. Whatever happens with this show, this girl has a career in front of her. She just shines on stage. Her lower register was a little shaky for me, but she hits all the power notes and 95% of the rest of the song. Love her.

TOP 3: Lakisha, Melinda, Jordin (in that order)

BOTTOM 3: Sanjaya, Chris Sligh, Brandon (in that order)

Can I stress *how much* I really want Sanjaya gone? *sigh*
