EBU FLAG POLICY DITCHED AFTER COMPLAINTS

After criticism, the EBU has done an about-turn with the Eurovision flag policy.

Eurovision's highest decision-making bodies on Friday changed the rules for which flags are permitted arena.

Good for them! And good to see that reason and good will towards man kind can prevail over pettiness and unnecessary bureaucracy.

yeah this sounds good, but is it?

the ceasefire from ETA makes the Basque flag seem harmless, but who knows, this deep conflict could return.

the current European political climate is volatile, and with ongoing conflicts like Russia and Ukraine's very much unresolved, I question the wisdom of the EBU providing a stage for political statements of this kind.

I am Norwegian, and very much support most causes of the sami people, but sill I think this decision seems short sited.
