I'm planning to go to Bristol and Bath in September. How many days should be ideal? Should I spend more days in one place than the other? Are there absolute must sees?
I lived in Bristol for about eight months and think it's a city which main sights you can check off pretty quickly in one or two days but where is a lot more to explore if you just take the time. I'd recommend to: -stroll around the city centre and pop in St. Nicholas Markets for some nice food -explore the Floating Harbour area (Queen's Square, Llandoger Trow, Arnolfini Gallery, Watershed, SS Great Britain, Matthew) - boat rides within are fun, I really enjoyed walking to the Pumphouse Pub because you can see many colourful houses and the Bridge from underneath -walk up Park Street to visit College Green, the Cathedral, Banksy's most famous graffiti, some nice shops and Will's Memorial Building -climb up Brandon Hill and enjoy the view -walk around Clifton village (Victoria Square, Clifton Arcade, St. Andrews Walk) -walk over Suspension Bridge (and visit Ashton Court if you have enough time) -if you are into street art: there's lots of more graffiti in Bristol, check out Stoke's Croft, the Westmoreland House/Nie Tree Hill, Montpelier (there's a small train station which is connected to the Clifton station right next to the big Sainsbury's on Whiteladies Road) If you have specific questions, feel free to ask! :)
