Thanks, I can't wait for the WIS tour. I've googled pictures of all the places we stop on the tour and they are all so freakin beautiful!

I've done some of Sandeman's free tours on in some other cities (I think I've done London, Paris, and Munich) and I agree that it's a great way to get an overview with the city, but some guides are definitely better than others, and some just sounds like they're quoting textbooks and don't care, but I think it's a good overview and I can always go back on my own time at different places if I want to.

Other than salmon and haggis and fish n chips, are there any must try Scottiish foods? I admit I don't know much about Scottish food other than Haggis, so if there's anything I should try at all, let me know. I'm a foodie and I love to try new things wherever I travel, if I can (and within budget).

As for the rain, is it usually downpour rain or light drizzly rain when it rains, usually? If it's just drizzly rain I can probably just bring like a sweatshirt or hoodie and just wear that, but it's downpour I might need something a tad bit more waterproof. Is it a lot colder in the highlands I'm assuming?

Another food item I'd recommend is cullen skink. It's a thick haddock-based soup, kinda similar to chowder or bisque.

The rain tends to be drizzly rather than downpourish, but I'd recommend bringing a raincoat anyway. Although I suppose you could try winging it with just a hoodie, and buy a raincoat or umbrella later if the rain proves to be too heavy for you. The highlands are a law unto their own and the weather (and temperature) can do anything. The place where you'll most likely need to dress warmly is the Outer Hebrides (Harris and Lewis). I went there in June once and had to wear a hoodie and a scarf.
