I should be packing. Tomorrow morning I’m going to go get my tooth drilled (using that dental insurance while I still have it) and then immediately disembarking on the six or so hour trip back to Louisville. I have no real desire to go back, however, so I’m watching Hoarders and wasting time online while I wait for the TRMS re-run instead of doing anything productive.
There are two reasons that I am returning to Louisville instead of running in the other direction and never looking back:
1. Hanson teaching the capstone class
2. I graduate at the end of this semester
…if either of these things change in the near future I’m giving up entirely. Well, actually, I’d probably sit in the corner and cry…then suck it up and deal with it. But, given the way last semester went, I feel like I deserve a better experience this time around.
I’m trying my best to keep a positive attitude, but given that I got an e-mail from the NIH today telling me that they’d received the majority of my application materials for the fellowship but they still need two letters of recommendation - they have one from Dr. Barnbaum; my hopes are not high. This, of course, means that everyone in Louisville is being true to form and waiting until the very last minute to get things done. Passive aggressive as it is, I sent my letter writers thank you notes with the specific intent of reminding them to write the damn letters in the first place. I know these people. I’m not too worried at this point because Dr. Potter had said that she’d be out of the country until the 5th and wanted to wait until she got back and Dr. Hanson e-mailed me a question just a few days ago so I know he’s working on it… Still, if there’s something to obsess over, I will.
Other things of note:
Make It Or Break It is still ABC Family bad, but addicting none the less. I know the show is sort of ridiculous for a variety of reasons, but I love it anyway. Because I like it though, it’s bound to get canceled soon.
Also, I finally got my Blackberry two days ago. I’ve almost figured out how to use it. It disturbs me, however, that there’s a free breaking news application by FOX but not by anyone that doesn’t make shit up for giggles. I’ve been reduced to using the New York Times politics application…and it sucks. :o(
