Serbia’s next government will aim for quick European Union entry, strategic gas links with Russia, and renewed negotiations over Kosovo, the country’s prime minister-designate said on Monday.
Mirko Cvetkovic said the cabinet would soon ask parliament to ratify the Balkan country’s EU pre-accession agreement, ambitiously aiming for candidate status by next year. The controversial Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) brought down the last government after Kosovo declared independence with tacit backing from Brussels.
