Amsterdam/Holland

I just spent Saturday - Wednesday in Amsterdam/Holland. I really enjoyed my time there. Amsterdam has such history behind it, yet it is one of the most alive cities in the world. Most of my time I spent with Ellen, Elko and Mees. I really had a good time with them, here quite a few pictures from my Amsterdam trip.

In Amsterdam, everywhere you go you see a canal. This is a photo of one of the most famous/largest canals in the center of Amsterdam. We passed it on our way to the Anne Frank House.

With the Anne Frank house, I did not get photos. They turned her house into a museum. Everything is still left inside how it was back when she still lived there, but the outside of the house looks like a blank, black wall. You are not allowed to take pictures inside, but I took one anyway:

The guy kind of got in my way - But here is a photo of the stair case that led up to her families secret hiding place. It truely was a huge house, I went through the entire thing. I wish that I could have gotten photos of her bedroom. All the posters she pined up are still in place. It was just a strang, sad feeling being in the house in general. But I'm glad that I got to see it.

Here's Mees! Getting ready for some snacks.

And Mees getting ready to go to the windmills.

This was taken at a small famous villiage in Holland. There were about 10 windmills, and lots and lots of tourist shops. It was so incredibly windy. (My coats even puffed up). Mees's socks and shoes kept flying off, and at times we had to stop and wait for the wind to calm down because it was too strong to walk in.

Here's a picture of the houses in Holland across the river. They all look basically the same, but they really were beautiful. Ellen said that this was the first day she had ever seen the river with waves. I thought it looked really pretty.

Windmills.

Another Windmill.

Close Up.

Here's me in my wooden shoes! This was outside of the Dutch Wooden Shoe Factory.

Next Ellen, Mees and I went to the Holland Cheese Factory where we watched them make cheese. Not #1 on our to-do lists, but you can't leave Holland with out seeing all of the tourist attractions.

Here's Mees and I in the big wooden shoe.

Here we are again in the shoe. Mees with his toung out. Haha

This picture was taken the following day. Ellen, Mees and I took a day and went shopping and to the Red Light District (hookers/drug dealing part of town, hah). This is a picture of the main downtown square.

Here's a picture of a shopping mall (quite different than the typical shopping malls in the US). Ellen and I went in there, I bought a lot of new shirts. This is the only mall in Europe with Hollister Co. in it, so that was sure nice to shop in an American store!

The Red Light District.

You can't have The Red Light District with out the Illegal shops. haha

The red lights indicate that the hookers are in the rooms, I think we all know what it means when the curtains are closed so I won't go into that...

Ellen took me to this street, we didn't walk down it because I had seen enough by this point - but this is the more "expensive" area in a private street. The red lights in the lamps are where the hookers are. By this point I was pretty discusted..

Here's a picture of Central Station (Ellen's work) and the tour boats that take tourists through the canals of Amsterdam.

I also saw Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt's house around this area but the picture turned out incredibly blurry.

That's all for now! Look for more pictures soon.

Saturday October 30th - November 6th = Canary Islands!
