So the website for my language school says that it's incredibly easy to catch a bus from either Shannon or Dublin airports. This is true. On Fridays. Not on Sundays. Having exhausted every possibility for travel from Shannon to Burtonport before the last ferry leaves at 7pm, including emailing the school, I finally decided to continue my trip to Dublin, as the school person I talked to told me a McGeehan's coach would take me right to Burtonport. After I paid the 60 euros for a flight, McGeehan's told me that no, they only go as far as Dungloe, and they don't arrive there until 21:00 so I'd miss my ferry anyway.
So I'm catching yet another flight from Dublin to Carrickfinn airport and then will take a 15-minute taxi ride to the ferry terminal. The question is, if I arrive in dublin at 7:30am and am out of the airport by 8:30, will I have enough time to go to the Guinness Brewery and the Jameson's Distillery and be back to the airport by 2:30pm for my 3:40 flight? I don't fancy just sitting in the airport for 7 hours after having been on an airplane since 8:45am the day before.
Next time I go to Ireland, I'm just bicycling everywhere. I don't care how long it takes- it's less complicated.
