Now that's customer service

So a few days after the flight attendant left his job by cursing at someone and then deploying the slide on a plane, I was thinking that customer service would be on a downhill slide because of all the lousy people they have to deal with on a daily basis.

And then tonight happened. Finished my exam (summer classes over FINALLY) then headed to Culver's to grab a bite to eat. I place my order, sit down and wait. And wait. About 8-10 minutes later, I go to the cashier to ask why the long wait. No loud crabby groaning, just a curious look of "where's my meal?" "Oh, I'll get that out for you right away, I'm sorry about the wait. Because you had to wait so long, I'll get you a free sundae." *shocked look on my face, then I say thank you since it was more than what I was expecting* Return to my seat, food comes out (with the manager asking if I wanted the sundae now or later)... only to find that they upgraded my burger to a double rather than a single. And it even tasted better than normal. Then I get my sundae, no pushiness needed, prepped well, and when I was done, the other employees went, "Hey, did you get your free sundae yet?" when I was walking out the door.

So, wow. Congrats, Culvers, congrats the manager. Textbook example of good old-fashioned customer service. Was a repeat customer, will stay a repeat customer and for good reason.
