Things have been very busy lately, with no end in sight. I think every weekend is planned until June.

Last Thursday I saw the Toronto Dance Theatre perform at Emory University. I had met the choreographer, Christopher, in Toronto since he is a friend of Andrew's. I am very glad I was able to get tickets as it was sold out that evening. I have not been exposed much to modern dance, but I can honestly say I enjoyed this immensely. It was creative, thoughtful, humorous, touching, engaging, just a whole array of feelings. More than just visual beauty of, say, Cirque du Soleil, it spoke more to the heart and mind on a personal level. Any attempt at a description will not do it justice, but it was certainly a very enjoyable experience and I hope to see more.

After the performance the Canadian consulate sponsored a reception to meet the dancers. My friend Brian (with whom I went) and I had a wonderful time and ended up talking to a couple of the dancers. Brian invited them over to my house for some wine, so we hung out and chatted and listened to music. We met again with one of them for brunch on Saturday and I met up with a bunch of them out at Wetbar on Saturday night after the party. They seemed to have had a good visit to Atlanta, and I hope they can come back sometime.

Speaking of the party, I am glad everyone had a good time. I certainly appreciate the thoughtful gifts (which was not necessary!) and more so the attendance. Of course some people were deeply missed who were not able to come. We went through 19 bottles of wine, including 3 half bottles of dessert wine. Brett made a delicate and involved looking layer cake which was yummy. Fortunately people were not as out of control as they were last year at XL, or even for Mikey's XXX last month. Another year, another birthday, ain't so bad when you have wonderful friends to grow along with you.
