Benetton & Co.

T'was a brilliant ad campaign.

Having been away from Europe for so long I have no idea how Benetton has faired in recent years. I don't think they ever really took off in the States but they certainly did in Europe and I think in Asia too? When I was 11, I *had* to have their clothes so I could be cool. The other must-have brands for kids at the time were Diesel, Esprit, Doc Marten's, Levi's 501's and several other I cannot even remember now. Benetton's ads were unique though. They stuck with me through the years. They promoted what could easily be considered "offensive" advertising even today and this was 20 years ago. Their ads were anti-racism, anti-church, anti-prudes. I truly do think they helped shape a generation. Just brilliant.
