This is primarily of interest to my Lightroom, Photoshop, and other digital photo students (some of whom I know visit this blog) but might be worth reading for other photo enthusiasts.
Apparently the
Library of Congress has funded a working group through the
American Society of Media Photographers to develop a set of
best practices for the processing and archival of digital images. This is very welcome as there is a lot of misinformation out there as to what file formats, media storage types, and post-processing techniques to use to get the most information and longevity out of digital images. I already teach pretty much everything listed on the
quick reference PDF and I heartily recommend adopting these practices if you have not already done so.
