I'm not really sure why I signed up for the Hugh's Room newletter a few weeks before leaving Toronto, but the emails listing all these fabulous shows on weeknights when I cannot possibly be in Toronto are discouraging.
However! I now have an oven rack so I can bake, and the people at the performance office were very nice in saying that whoops, auditions were today, but they might still be looking, so email this guy. So I emailed the guy and am now sitting waiting for a response and worrying that I am totally unprepared, as today was the first time I practiced in a week since I feel like I would probably be disturbing people practicing in the apartment but if I have to practice, I have to practice, so they can just deal with it for now. But I don't even know WHAT I should be preparing, so I've got about four lovely legato things that I always pick, and two more technical things including an excerpt from Children's March that I don't even have the music for but still remember. And that is totally too much, as these sort of auditions are usually the type that only last two minutes.
As an interesting side note, Grainger apparently once had a
myspace account, but it has been deleted. Hahaha.
And now I have my own internet, instead of someone else's unsecured wireless. Yay.
