Bored at work...

Okay, so I have NOTHING to do at work until Monday, which pretty much makes me bored to tears. So I've started looking at laptops since when I move to New York I've decided that having two desktops in a small apartment is pretty stupid. I'm very excited about a few very expensive ones... meaning that there is no way that I'll be able to buy them. The ones I'm currently able to afford are a Dell Inspiron E1705 which is a 17-inch Duo Processor (way too cool) and the Sony VAIO 15.4 inch FE series (also with Duo processor). I'm leaning towards the Dell mostly because all reviewers have given the Vaio a pretty bad score when it comes to battery life and heating issues. What I really really want though is an Alienware Aurora m7700. Yes, I'm pathetic and I know I could never afford a $4500 computer (the price with all the bells and whistles that I put on the Dell and the Vaio). So sue me for wanting something I can't have. :P

Regardless of all, I'll probably be getting the Dell. Not too shabby, overall, but definitely not as expensive. Considering that I'm a poor graduate student, I would think that's a good thing. Restraining myself is so difficult!

And because I'm so bored out of my mind, I shall do this meme stolen from ecatalina:

Go to Wikipedia and look up your birth day (excluding the year). List three neat facts, two births and one death in your journal, including the year.

Three Facts/Events
1494 - Christopher Columbus first spots Jamaica.

1937 - Gone with the Wind, a novel by Margaret Mitchell, wins the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.

1810 - Lord Byron swims the Hellespont.

Two Birthdays
1469 - Niccolò Machiavelli, Italian historian and political author (d. 1527)
1921 - Sugar Ray Robinson, American boxer (d. 1989)

One Death
1481 - Mehmed II, Ottoman Sultan (b. 1432)

I thought that Machiavelli being born on my birthday couldn't be outdone... but then Mehmed II, the sworn enemy of Dracula, died on my birthday! Way too cool. :D
