I haven't updated in a dog's age...so I guess it's about time.
I don't remember the last time I posted, so I guess I'll go back as far as I deem important. I came back home to B'ham last weekend to drop Buddy off so I could head to Tuscaloosa for Kevin's bachelor party. We went to Outback for a good steak, and then Kevin, Mikey, and I went down to Philadelphia, MS for some gambling at Silver Star and Golden Moon. It was fun...lost a lot of money, but it was a great time. I think Kevin had a good time, which is what was most important. I got back to my house the next morning around 8:00...needless to say, I was freakin' exhausted.
This past week, I assisted Heather with her band camp. I was glad to help out a friend, especially since her assistant band director is a complete flake...and I may as well just say she's a bitch cause it's true. Anyway, it was a rough week...the kids were used to getting their way...and I felt like I was having to really struggle for patience. It worked out pretty well though...I think they all hate me now, but I guess it's a good indication that I did my job. Maybe they'll realize that later... Anyway, I am glad that week is over...I think Heather has a long year ahead of her, but I think it's going to be a great experience for her...and the kids too!
Friday night was Kevin and Sabrina's wedding rehearsal... It was kind of drawn out...and I could tell everyone wanted to go eat... I sounded like utter dog ass during quintet rehearsal, but it got better once I got my chops back in line. (This is why I'm scared of becoming a band director) Shortly afterwards, we left for Gulf Seafood Restaurant in Springville for the rehearsal dinner...it was a nice setup - everything looked really nice. It somewhat sucked because the musicians had to sit as far away from the bride and groom as possible, but it was good that they had so much family there... The food was eh, but it was still a good time.
Yesterday was the wedding...everything was really nice. The quintet sounded pretty good, and the ceremony was beautiful...at least the parts I could see, because my back was turned to the whole ceremony where we were sitting. Everyone looked great, and I was really glad to be there. I'm very happy for them, and I hope we can hang out soon now that things are not so hectic. Some strange things happened during the reception, but it was fun. It stormed the whole time...I hate that the weather wasn't better, but it was good during the ceremony at least. I really surprised myself this weekend in many ways, but again, I don't really want to do into it as an exercise in humility.
Speaking of exercise, can't wait to get back to the Payne Center...I feel like I gained 10 pounds this past week. Ugh... Anyway, congrats to Kevin and Sabrina! As for me, I'm going to get some much-needed rest and clean my pigsty apartment!!!
