"We'll have to find something to do for her someday," she murmured to Hitomi as Euphie walked away.
"It really is nice to be outside with people," she commented, smiling over at Hitomi before she went back to marking something up on the paper in front of her.

The scientist was used to a give and take relationship, not one that was purely give. It had been years since she'd had an actual friendship like this.

"What brought you two to this school?" Euphie asked curiously.

"I just...found myself here, and applied. There wasn't much else I could do, going to school was the only option I had."

"I.. came here to learn, to study people, anatomy, genetics. Where I come from, we're working on trying to make life better for people, to create the ultimate resistance to natural selection. I thought that... maybe this place would be my best learning opportunity."
She wondered what they would think of this. The last person she had admitted as much to hadn't taken it well.
"How about yourself, Euphie?"

Euphie had some cookies and thought about how to explain her own arrival. The truth was best, but perhaps not all of it.
"I was...seriously injured and couldn't do much of anything for a long time. My doctor said it would be good for me to finish recovering in a place where I could spend a lot of time outside and doing things that I enjoy. Lloyd, the scientist I mentioned, heard about this place and I agreed to come."
