I have a dilemma.
My boss is a ‘Jesus Freak’, you know the type, eat, sleep and breathe GOD! I’m just the opposite. I don’t believe in god or organized religion. To me, churches are just great architecture. Well, when I came into work tonight my dayshift co-workers showed me xmas gifts that the boss gave them. They’re a crystal angel ornament and a religious prayer card with a pewter ornament attached. She has these for everyone. I know it’s the thought that counts but she knows how I feel and I really don’t appreciate religious gifts. I respect the fact that she’s into god, but I’d like for her to respect the fact that I’m not. When she tries to give these to me, how do I convey this to her? I appreciate being thought of at xmas time, but these gifts go against my beliefs. I realize I could just smile and say ‘thank you’, but I don’t want her to think it’s ok to give me gifts like these. I’m not normally a very tactful person so I could really use some help with this. I won’t see her until Monday morning. Thanks!!!
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
