This Christmas
Taemin x Onew
Romance&&Angst(?), PG
A/N: no, i don't own anything. This is inspired by the song Don't cry, Joni. And yeah, grammar mistakes are everywhere. FAIL.

Jinki stared at the almost empty room in front of him. Papers were scattered on his bed, the table beside it was full of boxes he just packed. His cabinet was left open and empty across it. Though a lot of sunlight has entered, the room looked dead. He'll miss this. He doesn't want to leave Incheon but working in Seoul wasn't a bad idea, this is what he wanted.

There was a soft knock and Minho entered the room. He gave Jinki a soft smile before settling himself on the bed beside his friend.

"You're really going, aren't you?" He said, eyes scanning the dirty room. Jinki nodded and patted him on the shoulders when he gave a loud sigh. Minho's eyes landed on a letter on the bed, it was different from the others. It was a plain envelope between hundreds of colored enveloped bills that were scattered. "Love letter?" He said as he held the letter. Jinki's eyes narrowed when he saw what he was holding and before Minho can take a look to who's it from, it was snatched away from him.

"It's nothing" Jinki breathed and threw the paper at table.

"Okay" answered Minho, who was eyeing the letter with curiosity "I probably should be going, my sister's looking for me. Just...just take good care of yourself and merry christmas" Minho said with concern before disappearing.
Jinki couldn't help but smile at the door where his friend left, Minho would be one of the people he'll miss.
He stood up to close his closet when his eyes caught the letter lying on the table.

"It wouldn't hurt to read it" He muttered while tearing it open.

Dear Jinki,

He gulped and continued reading.

I know you're leaving and I know that you already knew what I feel for you. I love you. I love you since we were still kids. Please wait for me, after I graduate I'll grow up and find you. I might be young for you now but I'll be mature enough by the time we'll meet again.

So please wait a little longer.

Love,
Taemin

Jinki stared at it and read it again for five times before closing it. Taemin was his neighbor for ten years or maybe more, he wasn't sure. She was head over heels in love with Jinki but unfortunately, he can't return her the same thing. He quickly showered and went to the house beside his.

"Jinki!" Taemin exclaimed, blushing when she opened the door "Come in!"

"I won't be long, I just have to say something to you" Jinki answered, heart beating faster "I'm--"

"No" Taemin cut him off "I won't listen"

"I'm sorry Taemin"

"Please don't do this" Taemin pleaded, tears starting to form.

"I'm sorry" Jinki replied not looking in his eyes "You're just too young for me"

"I'll be mature after I graduate" Taemin answered stubbornly "I'll be old"

"That won't make any difference. I'm growing up too Taemin, five year difference is too big, you're just like a little sister for me"

"Please wait for me Jinki"

"I can't" Jinki whispered, Taemin's tears are falling across his cheeks "Please don't cry, I'm not worth it. You're still young, you'll find a lot of guys better than me. I'm sorry, I'm sorry but I'm not the one for you. You'll just forget me when I'm gone, I'm not your happiness" He wiped her tears and said goodbye, leaving Taemin crying on the door.

He doesn't want her crying but he have no choice. When they were still kids, he would protect her from any harm. She would always go crying at him, complaining how hard life is for her and how lucky she is to have him. But now, he made her cry. He can't protect her. Not anymore.

Jinki left Incheon with a heavy heart. The image of Taemin crying haunted him in work, in house, in his sleep, anywhere. It kept replaying in his mind for three years.

Please wait for me, after I graduate I'll grow up and find you.

Those words kept repeating. He even called his friend, Jonghyun, Taemin. That wasn't the first time, nor the the second. Taemin was the only name he knew.

"If you miss her that much, why don't you go back and get her?" Jonghyun asked him as they entered a fastfood.

"Pardon?"

"I said, who don't you get your ass out of Seoul and find this Taemin" Jonghyun repeated irritatedly.

"Why would I?" Jinki laughed "And how did you know about her?!" He added, shock when he realized he said her name.

"Well" Jonghyun grinned at him "Because you kept calling people Taemin. Accidentally" He added when Jinki was about to protest "You shouldn't have left if you love her that much"
Jinki paused and absorbed his words. "I do?" Maybe he does, but as a little sister only. He was sure, or was he?

"You don't" Jonghyun joked "That's why you've been spacing out everyday and when people disturbs you you'll call them Taemin Taemin!" Jonghyun mimicked him and he threw his fries at him. "You're welcome, I guess" Jonghyun said while wiping the dirt off his pants.

Thanks to Jonghyun, he got his answer. Incheon was covered with christmas lights and snow when he went back. It's the perfect time to see her again. He didn't even bother to clean his room when he got there, he skipped his way to the house next door. Taemin would be thrilled.

"Jinki!" Taemin exclaimed when she opened the door. She was a woman now but besides that, nothing changed. "Come in!"
Yes, nothing changed. "I need to tell you something" Jinki smiled at her "Taemin before I--"

"It's okay" Taemin cut him off,  just like before "How are you?"

"I've been fine-- well, not really. Listen, what I said before I want you to know that I regret it" Jinki breathed "I regret that I put you down, I made you cry, that I said no"

"Jinki, It's okay it--"

"No, It's not. You see, I love you and I was blind before" He looked at her waiting for her to say something "But not anymore"
"I'm married" Taemin answered.

"I lo---" Jinki stopped and let her words sink into his mind "What?"

"I'm married" Taemin repeated.

"You're kidding right?" Jinki tried to let out a laugh. Taemin wasn't looking at him, she couldn't. She wasn't giving him an answer either. He tried to compose himself, biting his lips so the tears won't fall. "You're not"

His tears were falling now.

"Please don't cry Jinki"  Taemin said softly "Don't cry. I'm not worth it, it's been three years and maybe I'm not the one for you"

He looked at the floor, hiding his face from her.

"I'm sorry, you'll find someone better. I'm not your happiness"

Jinki nodded and finally gave her a small smile. He wrapped her in a small hug, aware that a pair of eyes might be watching them. "I hope he'll take good care of you"

"He will" Taemin smiled "I'm sure Minho will take good care of me"
