so I'm getting to the end of my 3 weeks in O'ahu. This has not been a terribly action-packed trip, as Edie takes 2 naps a day, and I tried to have her home for at least the morning nap. That was fine though, we are staying in a condo with a balcony, so reading on the balcony is a nice vacation too. I have enjoyed the low-key time. My parents have been really great, and surprisingly have not gotten on my nerves really at all. (This is surprising because I often can't last through dinner without irritation). I wonder how exciting this vacation has been for them, frankly, but they don't seem to want to venture off without me or Edie.

It's been nice to see them really getting to know Edie. With my sister living with them (with her baby) since Edie was born, I feel like it hadn't really happened before. In any case, Edie changes so fast, it's like I'm always getting to know her.

She's starting to seem like a little person more and more. When she was first born, she was like a little creature, like the neediest pet of all time - she was so small and helpless that it was hard to fathom her as a fellow human being (plus of course she was constantly attached to my body). But now she has her own hilarious bunch of noises, and pet peeves (like that moment when she knows she's about to be released from the car seat, but she is STILL IN THE CAR SEAT! It's THE WORST!) But yeeaaah, even with all the personality, it is still a lot like a needy pet, albeit one that gets cuter all the time, and can never be left alone in the house.
