ETA: Just in case 'Athana' (aka, Jeri Studbaker) deletes one of Phillip's comments-

My apologies for my last message. I do have the unfortunate habit of forgetting that I am not always supposed to be writing in an academic fashion. Plus I do also tend to write somewhat late into the night, further muting the simplicity of my prose.

I'd say I can't believe that people are still trotting out the old chestnut about universally peaceful matriarchal prehistorical societies...but I'd be lying.

(On a personal level, I've worked with Athena, and now with the Morrigan. You can argue that Athena is warlike purely in a defensive sense, but the Morrigan is described as a battle-crow who feasts on the corpses of the slain. Not what I'd call, well, peaceful, you know?)

I think mythology would be boring if it wasn't for the violence, but that may just be me.

I'd like to read up more about the Morrigan, make some comparisons and contrasts with Anath sooner or later. (Not like I'd want to imply that they're the same thing of course-though now that I've mentioned it, I'm under the impression even the ancients had conflicting views regarding this, at least according to that book Ancient Religions I posted about earlier.
