Sin and forgiveness

I find the concept of being forgiven for sins truly alarming. So you can commit any heinous misdeed you'd like, feel bad, ask to be forgiven, and walk away from your mess happy?

Myself, I prefer the concept of accepting responsibility for your actions, which includes rectifying your misdeeds. No, you are not forgiven. If you commit a wrong, make it right. If it cannot be made right, perhaps you should feel bad for it and be inspired to not do such a thing again.
