I like vacation

Ohio Sea Grant's agents and I met the Division of Wildlife to discuss their stance on Ohio HB 609 (the proposed buyout of Ohio's trapnetters) and the investigations and indictments that got us here. The meeting was less strenuous than I'd feared.

Off to Manitoulin Island tomorrow. We'll be there to enjoy the absence of city and the presence of fish, oligotrophic lakes, forest, and wetlands. Yippee.

I'll take a guitar to prepare classical-era song accompaniments for rehearsals and recording sessions and my baroque mandolin to prepare the Sammartini sonata for a pending recital. Sammartini's little, 3-movement "Sonata per Armandolino" is one of my favorite baroque pieces for mandolin. It doesn't work on the modern mandolin's tuning and has to be played with the fingers to play some of the double stops and chords. So far, Karl has realized the continuo part from the first movement for guitar. The result makes me kinda excited for the rest...and eager to play the whole as a duo instead of as a solo for a change.
