When I first got an LJ, I swore I would only use it for posting snippets and drabbles. But today, you get my first rant.
It all started in the grocery store this morning. I'm watching the cashier tally up my purchases, when I notice that he's given me a SENIOR DISCOUNT!! Do I look like a SENIOR? GAH! I'm in my early forties, good skin, few wrinkles. Aside from the gray strands peppering my closely-cropped mane of light brown hair, what would give him that impression?
Not the first time either. The last time was a barely-twenty-something kid. I figured he just didn't know better. But this cashier was an older man, hair generously tinted with gray. Certainly older than I. ARGH!
That does it! I'm hitting the bottle. The dye bottle, that is.
So, my f-list, any advice? Do I go with a professional or DIY? Or just ignore the twit and wear my gray with pride? After all, my Irish granny was snow white at forty. I carry a bit of her heritage in every graying strand.
