Chapter Six - SMT

“FUCK YOU JUNG YUNHO! CURSE YOU! YOU’LL NEVER EVER GET MARRIED AND DIE ALONE YOU EVIL BASTARD!”

“I don’t mean to interrupt, Jaejoong-sii, but if you lean any further I’m afraid that screw on the railing that I’m supposed to be fixing will come undone and you’ll be tumbling down thirty-storeys onto the flowerbed below that I had just tidied up.”

Jaejoong almost tumbled over the roof-top railings, without the aid of the loose screw, in his surprise and Junsu had to pull him back.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t know you were here,” Jaejoong felt a blush creep onto his cheeks, “Uh...did you...”

“I heard you loud and clear,” Junsu put down his toolbox and bent to fix the railings, “The president’s office may be soundproof, but I’m not sure about the rest of the staff, please keep that in mind next time you curse our boss.”

“Argh!” Jaejoong slumped onto the ground in his frustration, “I don’t get why everyone is so in love with the president, he’s really nothing short of a devil, you know that don’t you Junsu-sii?”

“I might,” Junsu didn’t seem interested, “But since he’s the one paying me, I doubt I’d ever complain.”

Jaejoong hasn’t seen Junsu since their first encounter where the latter saved his dignity, but nevertheless, he felt a strong familiarity towards the janitor. Something about Junsu just made Jaejoong want to pour his heart out to the other man.

“Do you know what he made me do?” Jaejoong continued to vent, “He made me type up three proposals in five hours then told me that he didn’t need them anymore and that I have to rearrange his entire schedule so he can go hang out with this slutty woman! On top of that he would not accept his coffees until I’ve at least made it three times and he doesn’t even tell me what was wrong with the previous ones in the first place. It’s like he does everything just to make my life hell.”

“Hmmm.” Satisfied that the railing still remained intact even when he shook it, Junsu packed up his tools and left Jaejoong grumbling on the roof.

It was hard facing Jaejoong when memories kept surfacing upon every encounter. To see the leader of the SMT project and the only person he, Kim Junsu, had admired fallen to such a state made life dull and painful. Yunho had warned him to stay clear of Jaejoong and Junsu planed to do just that.

Making his way to the nearest storage room, Junsu pulled out the cleaning trolley and proceeded to carry on with his job, when a very stealthy hand snaked behind his line of vision and boldly pinched him on the butt.

“No, we’re not going to have sex in the storage room again,” Junsu frowned at the grinning man who suddenly appeared beside him, “Last time I smelt like detergent for a weak and you didn’t even send cologne over to apologise.”

“What a shame,” Yoochun ducked down to swipe his tongue over Junsu’s lips, “I was going to play with some of the interesting stuff you have, for example that pink screwdriver I saw last time would look very nice disappearing into your sexy arsehole.”

Junsu rolled his eyes and pushed the cleaning trolley onwards before anyone catches them, however, Yoochun went to catch up with him.

“Don’t you have more important things to do, Mr Park?” Junsu raised an eyebrow, “Or would you like to make way for some nice rumours about the CEO and the janitor?”

“They won’t be rumours and wouldn’t they be surprised if they find out ‘the janitor’ was one of the leading research scientists in this institute?” the smile on Yoochun’s face vanished quickly as he turned serious again, “I’m actually here because Yunho managed to let Jaejoong escape during lunch break, have you seen him?”

“Up on the roof,” Junsu chuckled, “He was cursing that Yunho would never get married.”

“Good,” Yoochun breathed a sigh of relief.

“Is something wrong?” Junsu was surprised that Yoochun didn’t comment on Jaejoong’s silliness.

“There are spies in the company and even Changmin’s ‘dogs’ can’t manage to sniff them out,” Yoochun rubbed the back of his neck tiredly, “Yunho’s getting jumpy and he’s planning to take Jaejoong out of the country for a bit. Meanwhile, it has been suggested that we burn any remaining documents to do with...the past, just in case the spies manage to get Jaejoong to remember.”

Junsu’s eyes narrowed. He knew Yoochun aimed the last statement at him and although he knew his lover was right, Junsu will never let go. In his possession was the last piece of evidence that the SMT project had ever existed, the last proof of Jaejoong’s dreams...of his own dreams.

“If Jaejoong was still here he would’ve thrown a fit. You can’t just burn years of hard work like it never existed!” Junsu kept his voice down but his irritation could not be controlled, “The project was Jaejoong’s dream, it was his life and if you know any better, you’d know it was my life as well!”

“Things have changed, baby. Jaejoong is still here but the project is no longer his life,” Yoochun turned to leave, “The past is dangerous, Su. Yunho has already ‘lost’ Jaejoong to it and I’m not prepared to lose you, so please let it go...for me.”

On whim, Junsu childishly stuck his tongue out at Yoochun’s retrieving back. His lover had always been too overprotective, even Yunho wasn’t that possessive over Jaejoong (obsession was more Yunho’s problem).

It was Yoochun who demoted Junsu’s position for ‘his own safety’, it was Yoochun who bribed government officials to change Junsu’s entire profile to prevent them from finding him...it was Yoochun who saved his life and because of that Junsu had to play along.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

“What?”

“Please Mr Kim, I am not a fan of dramatics, I know you heard me the first time now please will you go do your job,” Yunho watched the beautiful man before him trying to control his expression and wondered if Changmin was right about him being too much.

“But sir, you must be reasonable,” Jaejoong continued to complain, “I have only been on this job for a few weeks, don’t you think you should take someone more capable to an overseas conference? I am hardly familiar with the protocols of this company yet!”

Jaejoong’s words almost made Yunho wince. It was so strange, hearing them for the person who pretty much made up the protocols in his business.

Over the past few days, Yunho had done anything he could possibly think of to get on Jaejoong’s nerves. He made Jaejoong do unnecessary things, gave the latter no time to rest, continued to demand the impossible, was consistently rude and even went out with women. Had Jaejoong’s memory still been intact, Jung Yunho would’ve been a very dead man by now.

It hurts to know that you’re being hated by the one you loved more than your own life, but being able to see, hear and feel Jaejoong near him everyday was more than enough.

“Mr Kim, you are my secretary and you will do as I ask,” Yunho had to turn to the window to refrain himself from kissing the pout off the other man’s lips, “I have been giving you enough pointers as it is, if you are as capable as Changmin states you are then you will cope. Now I’d like it if you comply for once and get out of my office.”

Jaejoong did not hesitate to storm out of the office. While Jaejoong would’ve preferred being fired on day one, his stupid president had been using Changmin as blackmail to get him to obey,. Now he had to spend a month living with the Jung bastard and tending to his every need on a ‘business trip’ that had not been scheduled until today.

“I hope he falls down a set of stairs somewhere,” Jaejoong muttered, dropping a stack of folders on his desk.

“Is this a bad time to ask you for help?” Hana placed a takeaway cup of coffee in front of him and raised an eyebrow at the way Jaejoong glared at his paperwork as he muttered thanks.

“Kinda, but that doesn’t matter,” he sighed and attempted to smile, “What do you need?”

“My laptop totally shut down on me an hour ago,” Hana frowned, “I thought it might start working again after a while so I went on a break. When I came back and switched it on, it gave me a blue screen with lots of funny writing on it. I heard that you’ve been fixing computer problems around the department, I was wondering if you can help me.”

Computers were another strange thing he’d come into contact with since working at the Jung Enterprises. Over the past weeks, Jaejoong discovered that he was quite familiar with the complicated machines. While people wondered how he understood the buttons and codes, he found himself wondering why people didn’t understand. It was all very straightforward...wasn’t it?

For his own good, he decided not to dwell on the matter too much.

“Maybe you were like a genius computer programmer in the past or something,” Hana joked as she watched Jaejoong type out a long series of codes on the blue screen as though it was his native language.

“I don’t think so,” Jaejoong bit his lower lip as the computer rejected the command he’d just entered and worked to try again, “I only understand the basic coding. Once you give me a bigger problem......like this one, I’m stuck. Maybe you should take it to the technicians or something? There is either a very advanced security system in place or a very nasty virus present.”

“The technicians are down near the basement and you have to wait for them to allow you in,” Hana moped, “I really can’t be bothered. Are you sure you can’t do anything about it? Just have one more go, I’m sure you can crack it.”

Succumbing to the girl’s pleas, Jaejoong turned back to the screen and typed out another set of codes that had been lingering in his mind. He didn’t think it’d work, but suddenly the blue screen disappeared and the words “WELCOME BACK” stretched across the screen. But that wasn’t all....

“What’s this?” Jaejoong scrolled down the large amount of folders in the screen that had popped up directly after and went into a few to check their contents. What he found certainly doesn’t look like something that belonged on a secretary’s laptop. Opening the first document, he took a glance at the contents.

*RING RING*

Jaejoong didn’t realise he had been on the edge of his seat until he almost fell off when the office phone started ringing. Hana picked up, but immediately passed the speaker to Jaejoong.

“Hello?”

“Mr Kim! Where are the files I asked for? I told you to get out of my office, but I didn’t tell you to stop working! What are you doing?!”

That’s right, he was still working...for that bastard Jung Yunho.

“I’m very sorry sir, I will bring them in right away,” Jaejoong quickly hung up and fished out his USB. He transfer the strange files onto it and then deleted them from Hana’s laptop.

The files seem to make up a catalogue of the inventions created by the enterprise and Jaejoong has a feeling that it might come in very useful later. It also stirred his curiosity like nothing else.

“It should work now,” Jaejoong told Hana, “Tell me if anything else goes wrong. I have to get back to work before our boss bites my head off.”

Hana watched Jaejoong bustle off, slipping folders off shelves and juggling them on his way to the president’s office. Once he’d disappeared inside, she gently shut the lid of the laptop with one hand while the other hand fished out a cell phone and dialled an unfamiliar number.

A/N: Hot, humid, muggy and suffocating weather makes my brain turn into an empty shell. I'm always so tired I want to die TT__TT and nothing's been coming to me in terms of writing. Luckily, today I had a bit of a muse and managed to finish this chapter.

Readers are loved. People who comment are very much loved :D. I am always very grateful. Thank you and stay tuned :).
