Visit of cousins M and J and Aunty A

Monday night I started to get a bad cold. On Tuesday morning it developed into a flu. Went back to bed, watched some Babylon 5 on DVD and slept. Later that afternoon my auntie A and my two young cousins, M (12) and J (10) arrived to spend a few days in chch with us. I was disappointed to be feeling sick as I was looking forward to seeing them and I knew I had to stay an antisocial distance away in order that they did not get my yucky cold. I would not have minded going to the Palms mall, but decided to go back to bed. At the palms M and J wanted to come home early because they were getting sore feet - but the more likely cause of lethargy was getting dragged into lots of ladies clothes shops by A and Mum. Quite cunning of M and J - wished I had thought of that when I was younger.

Last time M and J visited our place they could not believe how many video games machines my brother owns. On the way home in the car they apparently excitedly said 'They have an XBox!", "They have a playstation 2!", "They have a gamecube!", "They have a gameboy!". I don't think they even saw the cupboard in my brothers room that includes a Sega Mastersystem, an old Nintendo 64, and various other museum pieces. So there was little question what M and J wanted to do when they got here. I set up the gamecube downstairs and handed them a large pile of games, and they were happy for a number of hours. A number of days actually.

On Thursday Mum was showing A some of her photos and sovieners from her and Dad's european trip. I snuck upstairs and grabbed the russian cossack hat from St Petersburg. I bought it for Dad as an Xmas present in 2002. I snuck up behind Mum and stuck it on her head and she attempted to do a cossack dance which made M and J laugh. J epecially loved the hat - he pulled the sides down so the rabbit fur covered nearly covered his face - he looked like an eskimo boy. He thought he looked like a monkey and started making monkey noises - ow oo oo ow. At least we got a photo.
