Another day, another section of the paper. Today, I'm working on "distance".

The people of Orbus have searched “through all the bright-formed rocks that jewel the sky” (4) until they found a planet which is “sun-warmed, rain-cooled, moon-worshipped, flanked by stars” (69): Planet Blue “that wanted life so much she got it” (202). The man and his child are “carrying the fire through a world destroyed by fire” (Chabon). The scale might well be very different, but the reason for setting out is the same: the world is ending, has ended, and there is a hope of something better. Migrations almost always come down to issues of survival.

If any of you loved me, you'd have found a way to kill me through the internet by now. Jesus.

On the plus side, i got a really lovely note about my work-experience from a teacher at Abi's school, so that's all the conditions of my offer filled now, and I actually get to go on my PGCE. That's nice.

Star Trek people, am I wrong is there like an epically angsty and gorgeous Chekov/Sulu fic lurking in this quote and this song:

In a similar way, a runner's every step is a leap, so that for a moment he or she is entirely off the ground. For those brief instants shadows no longer spill out from their feet, like leaks, but hover below them like doubles, as they do with birds, whose shadows crawl beneath them, caressing the surface of the earth, growing and shrinking as their makes move nearer and farther from that surface. For my friends who run long distances, these tiny fragments of levitation add up to something considerable; by their own power they hover above the earth for many minutes, perhaps some significant portion of an hour or perhaps far more for the hundred-mile races. We fly; we dream in darkness; we devour heaven in bites too small to be measured.

Cosmic Love - FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE

A falling star fell from your heart and landed in my eyes
I screamed aloud, as it tore through them, and now it's left me blind

The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart

And in the dark, I can hear your heartbeat
I tried to find the sound
But then it stopped, and I was in the darkness,
So darkness I became

The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart
[ Florence And The Machine Lyrics are found on www.songlyrics.com ]

I took the stars from our eyes, and then I made a map
And knew that somehow I could find my way back
Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too
So I stayed in the darkness with you

The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart

The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart

Right? Right??
