I should be writing. I really should. I'm working on a story for submission; an LGBT retelling of The Prince and the Mermaid which is a Sumi story. This version has a Pirate's daughter named Pearl in it, and a Princess named Thalassa, which means sea or ocean. I sort of love these girls. Maybe I'll turn them into a novel, or a version of them, anyway?
What Pearl didn't tell her mother was that she already knew what her father loved about the sea, that she'd known it in her gut for all of her life. Her father loved the sea because nobody wanted to stay anywhere forever. Her father loved the sea because it ringed the planet, and eventually, all rivers lead back to it. Her father loved the sea because he loved women, too. Pearl found women much more interesting than men. Built tall and skinny, she found herself lingering over their soft curves, hiding in corners to watch as they slipped out of dresses and gathered soft curves close with cupped hands in the chill air before bathwater. At night, she slipped her fingers down between her thighs and dreamed of kissing lower and lower over bellies and soft hair. Her father had turned-coat and left a respectable family behind when he took to the sea. Why couldn't she turn-coat and leave herself behind?
I'm going to be trying to use the DW account (the name of which I'm not going to link in an unlocked post because I'd sort of like to keep it for a professional online presence, should I need one) for keeping track of submissions, and, in turn, making myself write more.
On a sort of related note, here's a quick SotP for each of my pups this month:
Lily: Is going to be taking on River, I think, as a patient and be involved in Vala's delivery too? Anybody I'm missing. Next month, she'll be getting pregnant herself finally. Her and Eddie have been trying for two and a half years for baby #2 so I'm really excited to finally give them him.
Charlie: is getting married this weekend. She'll be Charlie Jones. Nothing makes me happier than this.
Karen: Might be going to Rimmer's Dead People Support Group with Shadow. I SWEAR I am going to do her item post this month. Probably next week.
Adam: canon puncture. Time with Sarah. Time with Coraline. More male friends!
Eden: More problems with her eye. Her and Babe's birthdays are happening in the middle of the month, and I understand there'll be a party. Her 1 year anniversary is this month...21st (yes, I had to look that up on my spreadsheet >.>), so I'll be thinking about giving her her second item. I think she'll certainly be rewatching Doomsday this month.
John: I want him to get the forge going again, and maybe start making some basic jewelery and metalware, as well as the woodwork. More time with Kara and the puppies. He's not ready to propose yet, but he's thinking about it. John is one of my projects for this month. I need to get him out of his circle of friends more. OH. And it's his 402/35th birthday on the 1st. I think that'll DEFINITELY call for a party.
Jenny: is engaged in a flirtation with Miguel Alvarez. It isn't going to end well, probably but she thinks he's very sweet. I do intend to get her out more this month.
Joe: Therapy, for definite this month. Web's going through a rough time and Joe'll be going through it right along with him.
Brad: Oh, Brad. At some point, I need to talk to Anita and work out exactly where things stand with Nate, but it's a fairly safe bet that Brad's been avoiding him since Opp plot. He likes the Catscratch club, he likes the benefits arrangement with Abby. One day, he might even do something that isn't eating, sleeping, flirting or surfing. But I doubt it.
The future: Well. Beth's coming back. That's all.
