I wrote five stories for Yuletide this year. They were:
No Stone to his Memory - Primeval - Nick/Stephen - Set post the season 2 finale. Their lives are not certain, and they're all dead somewhere. - "So we're all dead somewhere," said Nick. He was almost amused. No, amused wasn't the right word. It made a sick kind of sense. Academics got old, got dusty, faded away, but he hadn't felt like an academic in a long, long time. Not just an academic, anyway.
Stadiums and Shrines - Generation Kill - Nate/Brad - NC17 - Miracles can happen, even in the driest of places - "It snows in the Gobi desert," he says, finally. He read it somewhere, and retained it. "The camels eat the snow to stay hydrated, just a little at a time."
He realises that Brad is staring at him.
"While I'm gratified to hear that the camels have adapted to an undoubtedly difficult way of life, I have to wonder what precise relevance that information has when applied to our current situation in this decidedly Iraqi desert, Sir."
In the Colours of All Countries - Fionavar Tapestry - PG - After the war comes a time of peace, and, after the long winter, comes the Spring - Tonight, his sister's eldest son comes of age, or he doesn't. Sometimes, it isn't so easy. Torc and Liane named their firstborn twice, "Diarmuid" for bravery, "Davor" for strength. They're good names, names of which an Uncle might be proud. What Levon knows is that, at night, around the fires when the moving stops, the Dalrei still tell the stories of the Prince who slayed Uathach and the terrible slaugh, of bright Prince Diar and his brighter dance.
Still Life - New Amsterdam - G - Though technically a competant artist, John always had a hard time doing justice to real life - Most of the time, he changed because she was right. He barely noticed when years went by and she started getting dressed before she came into his studio. After Rosie was born, he bent his head and kissed her stretchmarks. He'd loved every inch of her which hadn't meant that he'd still turned his head when the younger girls went by.
Never let it be said that John Amsterdam wasn't weak for a beautiful woman.
Keeping Watch - Discworld - A small silly little thing in which Death considers the issues with Watchmen - WATCHMEN ARE PROBLEMATIC, said Death.
So, if you end up here and it turns out that I wrote for you, hi! It was an utter pleasure, and I had a blast this year.
