Ok.. so I met someone new Friday night :) We met on Lava and chatted online/phone a few times over the past week and seemed to have ALOT of common interests. The last chat we had (which ended at 130am on Thursday night/Friday morning) we had both expressed interest in meeting in person, but this weekend was not really good for me as I already made prior plans (DRAT!). However, after getting home from work/running errands Friday night and logging on the computer... who happens to log on??? Thats right my new FRIEND. We chatted for a bit and he inquired as to why I was home as he thought I had plans. I advised him that I do, they just didn't start until in the morning... ah! I had not initially made an offer to do something Friday night as I had my son and didn't really consider the possibilities. It DEFINATELY wasn't because I wasn't interested or anything like that.
In continuing the chat, we started talking about more common interests... MOVIES. We were kinda flirting back and forth and he made a proposal. He owns quite a few DVDs (so he says) and I own some (however my collection is rather small since I haven't had a DVD player very long). Trying to be cute and coy he proposed a little bit of a wager.... for me to name 5 DVDs that I would really like to watch and if he OWNED any of them then he would bring it over and we would watch it together... NOW... granted I rarely EVER meet anyone online in person without a public meeting first. I somehow felt very at ease with our conversations to this point and took a chance....and besides my child was here so any thoughts of a chainsaw massacre or using me in some twisted plot would be very unlikely, RIGHT???
So I start naming off my movie choices.... 1. Big Fish (as I never got to see it in the theater and wasn't even sure if it was on DVD yet); 2. Cold Mountain (again never got to see it and knew it was out already); 3. Breakfast Club (one of my favs...a little cheesy I KNOW.. but still a good flick!). Then I got stuck.. couldn't think of anything else off the top of my head. I asked him how I was doing so far. BEST MISTAKE! LOL.... He told me that I either "got lucky or striked out on #1" as he was a BIG Tim Burton fan and had Big Fish. OH MY........ don't know if I was more excited that he had it and we could meet or more nervous that he had it and now I had a BIG decision to make! Still feeling pretty comfortable with the thought of him coming over..... I gave him directions. I felt kinda honored that he was willing to come over at 1030ish (after an HOUR drive).
So in a frantic pace I worked on straightening up my apartment and getting freshened up. He arrived about 1040 and I fixed us both a drink. We put the movie in and sat on the couch. I won't go into ALL the details, but we had an awesome time. Its kinda funny... I already knew before he came over that he was really tired from the work week (several VERY early mornings for him and such)... he dozed off TWICE during the movie! He said he felt bad that he didn't want that to be my first impression.....LOL! I thought it was cute. I was happy for the company and knew he was tired. The movie was great, the company was better, and the KISS.... hmmmmm.... well I will just leave that part unspoken.... but I can say that when he went home.. I was SMILING! :) I am VERY hopeful to have more enjoyable moments with my new FRIEND.
