the first time i heard someone use the word parallelepiped, it was my dad, and i accused him of making it up. he hadn't. (to my credit, i was a freshman or sophomore in high school.)

then i had an amazing math prof who brought up (in two separate classes) that according to the construction of the word and the latin roots, that it should be pronounced parallel-epi-ped, instead of the more common parallel-uh-pipe-ed.

today, in the book i was reading for thesis, was the word hyperparallelepiped. i think it's my word of the day for the day.
