Strange Evening

That's what this has been. It was a great day. I had fun at work - sitting next to the sales team and listening to their conversations - even occasionally being part of them - has become a real joy in my day. I've one coworker who has one of those voices that seems to be lacking a VOLUME CONTROL,and everybody in the building recognizes his voice regardless of where they sit relative to him; not too long ago I would just sigh with a bit of annoyance at his voice, but now that I've heard some of the stories and jokes he's telling, I find it amusing. Still wish he'd learn some volume control, butchaknow.

We had a team meeting in which one of our teleconferencers, in the midst of a banter, asked, "You want to know what's really painful?" And then advised us that the answer was, "Being black and having to work on Martin Luther King day." There was groaning and wincing and general chuckling before getting back to business. I had a brief moment of amusement at the idea of it being difficult to be racist when you communicate with people by phone and email and actually shelved the train of thought as the meeting continued. <3

But tonight's been weird. I've spent the last few days cataloguing comics, books and movies for the charity auction, and discovered that cataloguing comic anthologies by issue by - essentially - table of contents is an ungodly slow and tedious process. If I weren't spending all day doing data entry, it might be less so, but oy. I've had Doctor Who to keep me company and the episodes tonight were excellent ones, but I've really been missing some of the friends I didn't get to see last week. I had a fantastic time with other friends, but I hope I get to see everyone else before too long here. (-:

Anyhoo, time to try for bed again. I settled in before but my brain was doing this whole nervous energy thing of wanting to do something and refusing to settle down, so... *g* I did what I do best, chattered a bit. Here's hoping it helped. :-D

doctor who, work, martin luther king day, school sales, friends, sleep
