Anxiety

Apr 27, 2007 01:48

Ok, it is 1:48 am. I have to work tomorrow at 8. I can't sleep. Why?

I interviewed for a job I really want at the museum. They called to tell me they are checking references, including the curator that I had the unfortuantate internship with last summer. I sent all my references a "heads up" email. As expected, all my Oregon people were really supportive. On the other hand, the curator, the most important reference of the bunch (since it is the same museum) said this:

I was surprised to hear from you as I know that [my secretary] wrote to you earlier in the year to find out if you were returning to the Museum [I did not get this email, I checked]. I hope your time on the West Coast was productive.

I am reluctant to serve as a reference for you in the Museum as I do not have anything I can refer to from your time here.

As for the kind offer for assistance with the world’s fair exhibition, I do not have the time right now to identify specific projects that need to be researched or supervise an intern. I also have learned that the most successful internships are those that are attached to an academic program.

Sincerely yours,

Bad, yes. I know. One of my friends here said at worst it was a non-reference, not a bad reference. But still, I should find out by tomorrow afternoon and I am totally anxious.

Oh, please my LJ friends, send me good mojo. I really want this job.
