oh lordy.
so the city of ithaca has a 24 hour parking law, move your car every 24 hours. so last night i came back from campus and totally left my car in a metered spot thinking "i'll move it later"
you see, i park a half mile away from my apartment, because i finagled a spot in my friend's landlord's lot. it went like this: me-"umm, since olivia and tisha don't have cars, can i park mine in what would be their spot?" him-"uhhh....(stares at me like "why are you speaking to me?")....whatever, i don't care."
but it being cold last night and me wearing flip flops, i didn't feel like walking back right then. so i told myself i'd do it later, and then forgot all about it.
until just now, in the shower. when i go "SHIT!" becuase after 24 hours they tow you. and i'm REALLY REALLY REALLY not in a financial place to be getting towed right now and having to pay 140 cash to get my precious car back. i'm really really not in that place right now. that would put a major downer on my finances.
so i hop out of the shower, and throw on some clothes from the floor, and BOOK IT to my car. and it's still there! hoooo-ray. like 30 hours later, still there. SCORE. only a ticket, which i'm happy to have given the alternative.
so i swing across the street into a new spot, and start to prance back to my apartment. some lady in front of a bar yells "prance it!" so i decide to share my delight and yell "i totally left my car for too long and didn't get towed!!!" to which she responds, "umm, i don't know you" so i'm all....duh? if you yell at strangers, don't be surprised if they yell back lady. whatever. i wasn't towed, and that's what counts.
