Chase realised sometime over the course of the morning that he had actually passed his island anniversary. He had been here a little over three years now, and it was surreal to admit. Most of the time, it didn't feel that long, but every now and again, some days just felt like he had been there forever. So much had changed in the last year alone.

He smiled and turned his head to look at up Peter, giving him a brief kiss. "Hey right back at you," he said with a smirk. "How are you feeling?" The question was often and perhaps maybe overkill on Chase's part of late, but Peter seemed to understand. After Peter had been seriously ill during the epidemic, it was just over-caution on Chase's part to check Peter was okay. Relapse wasn't totally off the cards, yet. Especially after the body had been so taxed. But he was more expectant of someone like Draco to relapse, who had less body fat than an ant. So far, no one had represented, though, and Chase was still proud of the team for what they achieved.

He moved to take the stool beside Chase, his hand now resting on his thigh. "How does it feel having a night off? Do I need to be prepared in case you fall off your stool in shock?"

He smirked and rubbe dhis hand against Peter's. "CPR at the ready. I'm going to need a lot of it tonight. The plus side of it all is I don't even feel tired. Just relieved to be away from the Med Centre."

Peter leaned across, capturing Chase's mouth in a deep kiss. "Mouth-to-mouth is my specialty. I think I'll manage. Yeah? That's great. Means I get to benefit. Not that I ever mind when you're tired. It's nice just lying in bed together."

He pulled him back into another kissed and then smiled against his lips as it eased off. "Mouth-to-mouth is your specialty, huh? As your boss, I order you to not do that to anyone else for an indefinite period of time. I want to do more than lie in bed with you tonight. I was thinking about that, actually, in general..."

"Giving me orders out of work? Sure that's allowed? Don't want me giving mouth-to-mouth to anyone else... does this mean we're defintiely serious? The more than lying in bed, or something else?" Peter laughed a little. "And I'll try and stop with the questions at some point. Just I'm still thinking about hands in pants. My attention is a little off."

"Just so long as there's no serious rash, I won't call you on it," Peter snickered.

The barman was busy with another customer, so Chase nudged his beer across the bar so Peter could share. "That could work. It would probably be a little scary trying to shift me after three years in that room, anyway. At least it's a suite. Have you ever lived with anyone before?" he asked.

He smiled in thanks, picking up the beer to take a sip. "Three years? Fuck, man. I still don't really know how you did it. Having said that... I'm not exactly in a hurry to leave anymore. Besides my 'loving' family? Not really."

"It feels like a long time when I think about it, but at the same time, it's just become my norm. I don't think I want to go back anymore. I have more here than I ever did back home." His arm was still slung loose around Peter's waist and he rested his chin on his shoulder, watching the beer in his hand. "But you do miss them, right? Some of them?"
Reply
"I can understand that, but then after long enough anything can become a norm. Worse places to be stuck, though." Peter nodded a little. "Nathan. I still don't feel right about things between us. Part of me wants a chance to fix it. Occasionally I miss my mother even if she's insane. I didn't realise my first power was actually hers, not Nathan's."

He nodded. "You mentioned a few times things being strained between you before you got here. And I get that. As screwed as it seems, I still miss my Dad. He was my Dad, she's your Mum. Your Mum and Nathan had the same power?"
Reply
"No. I didn't actually know Mom had a power until recently. Just figured she was... eccentric. Turns out she has these dreams, ones that give her a glimpse at the future. The dreams that I used to have of flying must have come from her."
Reply
"So, you just imitate other people's powers? But you can't anymore. Do you regret not having them? I mean, it can't be easy going from that to just being and ordinary bloke like... well, me," he said, laughing.
